Abstract
An instrumentfor delivering a high voltage pulse to tissue is disclosed. The instrumentcan include an outer support memberwith a liquid reservoirthat has a liquid-contacting interior surface, an openingat a distal endof the outer support member, and a ground electrodeextending in a longitudinal direction and having a lower surfaceproximate the opening. The instrumentcan also include a working electrodeextending longitudinally from the liquid-contacting interior surfacewith a needle-shaped distal portionproximate the distal end; and an inlet portand an outlet portin liquid communication with the liquid reservoir. The working electrodecan be electrically isolated from the ground electrodeby an insulating portionof the outer support member, and a direct path can exist through the liquid reservoirbetween the ground electrodeand the working electrode
