Extracting genealogical or ancestral information from one or more documents and associate information extracted from the document(s) with one or more data fields of a genealogical record. Displaying the electronic document simultaneously with a plurality of genealogical or ancestral records that includes information about individuals, and a hierarchical structure describing a relationship between individuals.
