Abstract
A waste container () comprising a receptacle () and a closure () connectable to the receptacle (). The closure () comprises a base () and a support () extending upwardly from the base (). The support () defines a front opening () and having a rear wall (). A tray () comprising a shelf () and an inferiorly depending guard () is also provided in the support (), with the tray () being at least partially rotatable relative to the support (). The closure () further comprises a shield () comprising a main body () extending from one edge () to a free edge () and having an upper surface () and a lower surface (). The shield () is hingedly connected to the support () at or adjacent to the one edge () and is moveable between an open position in which it overlies the rear wall () of the closure () and a closed position in which it is secured to the closure () to at least substantially cover the front opening ().
