Abstract

Co-processing of a video frame () and its associated depth map () suitable for free viewpoint television involves detecting respective edges () in the video frame () and the depth map (). The edges () are aligned and used to identify any pixels (-) in the depth map () or the video frame () having incorrect depth values or color values based on the positions of the pixels in the depth map ()or the video frame () relative an edge () inthe depth map () and a corresponding, aligned edge () in the video frame (). The depth values or color values of the identified pixels (-) can then be corrected in order to improve the accuracy of the depth map () or video frame ().
