Abstract

The present invention relates to lactone compounds represented by the following Formulas I and II, and methods of making such lactone compounds. The present invention also relates to methods of making other materials from such lactone compounds, such as fused ring indenol compounds (e.g., indeno-fused naphthols), and fused ring indenopyran compounds (e.g., indeno-fused naphthopyrans).
