Abstract

Disclosed is a phase change ink comprising an ink carrier which comprises a crystalline component and an amorphous rosin ester. In specific embodiments, the crystalline component can be a trans-cinnamic diester, a diester of tartaric acid, or a diurethane. In specific embodiments, the ink exhibits a peak melting point of no more than about 150° C., an onset crystallization temperature of no less than about 60° C., a melt viscosity within the temperature range of from about 100° C. to about 130° C. of from about 5 cps to about 22 cps, a peak solidification viscosity at about 50° C. of no less than about 1×10cps, and a hardness at about 25° C. of at least about 70.
