Abstract
An apparatuscomprising a cryogenic chamberand a galvanic input interfaceto the cryogenic chamberconfigured to receive a lower amplitude electric current. A converteris located within the cryogenic chamberand configured to convert the lower amplitude electric current, provided by the galvanic input interface, to a higher amplitude electric currentfor supply to a loadwithin the cryogenic chamber. A controlleris configured to control the converterand to detect the onset of quench by comparing the duration of the charge/discharge cycle of the convertor with a stored value. The controllermay also compare an instantaneous value of load current with a stored value of load current.
