Abstract

A scintillatoris disposed on an incidence sideof a photomultiplier. A scintillator capfor introducing electrons into the scintillatoris disposed around the scintillator. The photomultiplieris disposed in a sample chamberwith a vacuum seal formed around the photomultiplier. An insulating membermade of an opaque material is disposed between the scintillator capand the photomultiplier. The insulating memberprovides insulation between the scintillator capand the photomultiplier. The lateral circumference of the photomultiplieris covered to prevent light from entering the photomultiplier. A band filterfor blocking the illumination light of an optical microscopeis disposed between the scintillatorand the incidence sideof the photomultiplierto make it possible to conduct simultaneous observations by using the electrons and the optical microscope.
