Abstract
Newfertility restorer lines with a shortenedfragment are provided. The new lines lack the OPC2 marker and are capable of fully restoring fertility incytoplasmic male sterile (cms) plants. The improved lines were developed using a new breeding method. The new breeding method can be used to shorten an exotic insertion comprising a gene of interest in any plant.
