Abstract

Provided is a novel polymerizable azomethine compound which has a high Δn and is colorless. The compound is represented by the formula (I). Pand Peach are a polymerizable group; m1 and m2 each are an integer of from 1 to 10; Rand Reach are an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxycarbonyl group having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, an acyloxy group having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, an acyl group having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, an amide group having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, a cyano group or a halogen atom; n1 and n2 each are an integer of from 0 to 4; Ris a hydrogen atom, or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Zand Leach are a predetermined divalent group; n is 0, 1 or 2.
