Abstract

An endoscope systemis provided with an optical fiber cableand an electrical cablethat transmit pixel information output by a light receiving part, an image processorthat generates an image based on the pixel information transmitted from the optical fiber cableor the pixel information transmitted from the electrical cable, and a control unitthat controls a display unitto display the image generated by the image processor, determines whether or not a transmission abnormality is present in the optical fiber cable, and selects, as pixel information as a target to be processed by the image processor, one of the pixel information transmitted from the optical fiber cableand the pixel information transmitted from the electrical cabledepending on a presence of the transmission abnormality in the optical fiber cable
