Abstract

The cloning and broad characterization of a lyso-phosphatidic acid acyltransferase (LPAT2) fromis described. The TmLPAT2 enables the production of plants, seeds and cells with enhanced oil and/or fatty acid content. In particular, recombinant TMLPAT2 increases levels of very long chain fatty acids (VLCFA), especially erucic acid, in plants, seeds and cells.
