Abstract

The invention relates to a method for reducing uncontrolled combustions in an internal combustion engine, which occur independently of the ignition by a spark plug, wherein uncontrolled combustions are detected in the internal combustion engine (). In order to reduce the damaging effects of the uncontrolled combustions to the internal combustion engine, the incipient uncontrolled combustion (B) is reduced after said incipient uncontrolled combustion (B) has been detected.
