Abstract
An injection device () used in delivering medical fluids to a patient is provided. The injection device () may include a syringe plunger driver () and a syringe (). The syringe () may include a syringe data storage device (). The injection device () may include a communication device () disposable in each of attached and detached conditions. The communication device () may be operable to read a data storage device () within its field of view. When the communication device () is attached to the injection device () and the syringe () is installed on the injection device (), the communication device () may be operable to read the data storage device () associated with the syringe (). When in a detached condition, the communication device () may be operable to be hand manipulated such that various other data storage devices () may be read.
