Abstract

A method for operating a medical fluid machine, the method comprising: (i) if alternating current ('AC') power is available, charging a battery, if needed, and powering the medical fluid machine with the AC power; and (ii) if AC power is not available (a) if fuel cell power is available, charging the battery, if needed, and powering the medical fluid machine with the fuel cell power; and (b) if fuel cell power is not available, powering the medical fluid machine using battery power until the AC power or fuel cell power is available.
