Abstract

Sulfhydryl compounds, including hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans, may be removed from a fluid or gaseous stream or substrate by reacting the hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans in the stream with a scavenger of the structural formula: wherein R, Rand Rare each independently selected from the group consisting of Rand R, Ris a C-Cstraight or branched chain alkyl group, Ris —[(CH)—NH]—(CH)OH, n and m are independently an integer from 2 to about 6, p is from 1 to about 6; and wherein at least one of R, Rand Ris Rand at least one of R, Rand Ris R.
