A method of controlling a printerthat cuts recording paper according to a paper cut command after printing print data received from a host computeron the recording paper. If the paper cut command is received while performing an automatic clogged nozzle detection process on the inkjet headafter printing ends (S: Yes), the automatic clogged nozzle detection process is interrupted (S), and the cutting process is performed (S).
