Abstract
A fracture fixation systemfor a fractured bone having at least two bone fragments is disclosed. The fracture fixation systemincludes an orthopaedic implant, an engaging memberadapted to gain purchase in at least one bone fragment, and means for applying a force to the engaging member such that the at least two bone fragments are placed in compression and prevented from rotating relative to the orthopaedic implant. The engaging memberis disposed relative to the orthopaedic implant. The orthopaedic implantmay take the form of an intramedullary device, a compression plate, or a deployable material.
