Abstract

In a two-stroke engine () according to the present invention, a piston () has a communication passage () opened to a crank chamber (). An air intake port () is provided on an inner surface () for causing air to flow into the communication passage (). After a scavenging port () is closed by an outer surface () of the piston () moving from the bottom dead center to the top dead center, the communication passage () is opened in the outer surface () of the piston so as to communicate with the air intake port () and the scavenging port ().
