Abstract

An electronic hand-held device, for example a mobile phone (), includes a first unit (cover) and a second unit (keypad unit). The device () has a first configuration in which the first unit () is in a contracted position, and the second unit () is in a depressed position and positioned beneath the first unit (); and a second configuration in which the first unit () is in a fully extended position, the second unit () is in a fully raised position, and the upper surfaces () of the first and second units are adjacent to each other. The movement of the second unit () depends on the movement of the first unit () by moveable guide members () mounted along the lateral edges of the device (). The guide member () may include a guide surface () shaped to hold the second unit () firmly in position in fully raised position.
