Abstract

The article holding device () of the present invention includes a base (), a holding member () capable of sliding along a grip width of gripping an article (K), and a locking device () for holding in a position after sliding and adjusting the holding member (), wherein the locking device () include a gear (), an engaging portioncapable of coupling with the gear (), an urging member (S) for applying an urging force for causing the engaging portion () to couple with the gear (), a rack () provided on the holding member, a pinion () engaging the rack () and being placed roughly coaxially with the gear (), and a one-way clutch () interposed between the gear () and the pinion () and configured to become disconnected from the gear () and to be slipped only when the pinion () is rotated in one direction.
