Abstract

The invention relates to a locating device, in particular a hand-guided locating device, with a locating unit () for detecting the presence of an object () arranged in an examination object () by means of an examination signal (), which has a polarization unit () provided for a procedure with the examination signal (), and with a housing () for taking up the locating unit (), which has a longitudinal axis (). It is proposed that in at least one operating mode the polarization unit () specifies at least one first polarization plane () aligned obliquely to the longitudinal axis ().
