Abstract

A control system for access to a limited access area requires identification and preferably authentication of the accessing person; in order to achieve efficiency and effectiveness, the system need to be automatic. According to the present invention, the arrangement associated with the accessing person is split into at least two devices in communication between each other: a personal identity biometric authentication device (D) and a wirelessly communicating device (D); the authentication device (D) is responsible for user authentication, while the communication device (D) is responsible for transmitting requests of access authorization to an electronic access controller (D).
