Abstract
A negative active material for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a SiO(0.5≦x≦1.5) compound including crystalline Si, and a SiC, (0.5≦y≦1.5) compound including crystalline carbon. The negative active material may be used in a rechargeable lithium battery to achieve high capacity and good cycle-life characteristics.
