Abstract
The present invention provides an iron chelating agent which can selectively chelate iron ions. The iron chelating agent of the present invention includes a compound represented by the following formula (1) or a salt thereof (wherein, ring Z represents an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or an aromatic heterocyclic ring; Rrepresents an alkylene group; Rand Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or a group having chelating ability; and the total coordination number of the groups represented by Rand Ris 1 or 2.)
