Abstract

A method for processing a CO-containing gas in order to reduce the carbon dioxide content thereof, includes contacting the gas with a compound of at least one rare earth element, whereby the carbon dioxide is adsorbed onto the compound and a carbon dioxide-depleted gas is thus obtained; such compound is more particularly an oxide, and the rare earth element is particularly selected from among cerium, lanthanum or praseodymium.
