Abstract

Three-dimensional digital image data comes from a stereographic imaging arrangement () that takes a first raw image () along a first optical axis and a second raw image () along a second optical axis. The imaging arrangement () has a maximum imaging depth () and a minimum imaging depth (). It transmits the first raw image () and the second raw image () to a receiving device () along with an indication of a disparity range between a maximum disparity value and a minimum disparity value. The maximum disparity value is a measure of a difference between locations in the first () and second () raw images that represent the minimum imaging depth (). The minimum disparity value is a measure of a difference between locations in the first () and second () raw images that represent the maximum imaging depth ().
