Abstract
A main bearing () for supporting a rotating crankshaft () includes an upper shell () and a lower shell (). An upper inner surface () of the upper shell () has an oil supply groove () extending circumferentially therealong, an oil stem groove () extending obliquely from the oil supply groove (), and a pair of oil distribution grooves () extending from the oil stem groove () along and parallel to the oil supply groove () to present an F-shape along the upper inner surface () of the main bearing (). The oil grooves () provide for improved lubrication of the main bearing () at startup and when the engine is idle or stopped, especially in electric and hybrid vehicles. The main bearing () also has exceptional strength and load bearing capacity.
