Abstract

A deactivating cam system () for a valve train () of an internal combustion engine is provided having a camshaft () on which at least one cam () is seated for rotation but fixed in axial direction while being able to be connected through a coupling device () rotationally fast to the camshaft (). The coupling device () has a ball detent mechanism () which is arranged within the cam () and whose balls () are seated within radial pockets () of the cam ().
