Abstract

A liquid crystal device (A) according to the present invention has first and second pixels (Pand P). Each of the first and second pixels (Pand P) includes first, second and third subpixels (R, G, and B). When the input signal indicates that each pixel should represent the first color, the luminances of the respective third subpixels (Band B) of the first and second pixels (Pand P) are different from each other. But when the input signal indicates that each pixel should represent the second color, the average luminance of the respective third subpixels (Band B) is substantially the same as when the first color is specified, and the luminances of the respective third subpixels (Band B) are substantially equal to each other.
