There is provided an electronic device capable of automatically unlocking a lock of an external storage device using a password without adding a function to the external storage device. An electronic deviceincludes a memory card connection unitconnecting a memory cardcapable of being locked using the password, a password retention unitretaining the password of the memory card, a lock state determination unitdetermining whether or not the memory cardconnected to the memory card connection unitis in a locked state, and a setting cancellation unittransmitting an unlocking signal for unlocking the locked state of the memory cardon the basis of the password when it is determined that the memory cardis in the locked state.
