Abstract
In a differential for motor vehicles, comprising a tubular differential housing (), in which differential bevel gears () are supported on a housing-mounted carrier stud () and are meshed with halfshaft bevel gears (), and wherein the differential housing () has two diametral halfshaft holes () for feeding the axle drive shafts through and two diametral stud holes () for accommodating the carrier stud (), recesses () are provided at both ends of the differential housing (). Said recesses describe cutouts of the differential housing () that approach the halfshaft holes () and the stud holes ().
