Abstract

A thermal printer in which an upper lid portion and a printing unit can be opened off a main body of the printer by a single operation and the upper lid portion is not closed even when a closing direction force is exerted on the printing unit during ink ribbon replacement. The upper lid portion has a stopperthat supports an upper lid portionin a predetermined rotative position relative to a main bodyand releases support of the upper lid portionwhen the upper lid portionis closed. A unit stoppersupports a printing unitrelative to the main bodyat a smaller rotation angle than the upper lid portionand releases support of the printing unitwhen the printing unitis closed. A connecting memberconnects the upper lid portionand the printing unitin a fitted state where the printing unitis fitted to the upper lid portion. In a state where the upper lid portionand the printing unitare closed, the upper lid portionand the printing unitare connected by the connecting member
