Abstract

The disclosure provides a self dispersing pigment dispersion for use in inks including a pigment having a stabilizing group covalently attached to the pigment surface, and having an oil adsorption of at least about 155 to about 179 mL/100 g, and an acid content of at least about 0.98 microequivalent/m, and wherein the pigment dispersion has a pigment densification rate of less than about 8.40 E-04 mL/second. Ink jet inks containing these self-dispersing pigments, are also provided.
