Abstract
Construction of a steering column support apparatus is achieved that is able to suppress an increase in the height dimension, maintain a function of the steering columnbeing able to displace smoothly in the forward direction during a secondary collision and prevent the steering column from dropping down even when the steering columnis displaced in the forward direction due to a secondary collision. The steering column support apparatus comprises a non-dropping bracketthat is fastened to the vehicle body, a dropping bracketthat is supported by the steering column, a pair of boltsand a pair of support capsules. During a secondary collision, the supporting force of the support capsulesfor supporting the non-dropping bracketis lost and the steering columndisplaces in the forward direction together with the bolts, support capsulesand dropping bracket, however, does not drop from the non-dropping bracket.
