Abstract

The invention relates to a separator () for a crankcase ventilation of an internal combustion engine. The separator () comprises at least one swirl chamber (), which extends along a longitudinal axis (), wherein said swirl chamber () has a tangential inlet for a ventilation flow () at an intake-side end () relative to the longitudinal axis () thereof. The swirl chamber () additionally has a shared outlet () for the ventilation flow () and oil () entrained with the ventilation flow () on the outlet-side end thereof opposite the intake-side end () relative to the longitudinal axis (), wherein a post-separator () is disposed downstream of the swirl chamber ().
