Abstract
An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for suspend-resume scheduling in conjunction with an operation requiring a suspend-resume cycle of a computer, including updating, for purposes of system configuration management, a non-volatile memory, such as an electrically erasable programmable read-only memory ('EEPROM'). A control modulesendsa request to update the EEPROM. A suspend modulesuspendsan operating system. A standby modulepreparesthe computerto enter a standby state, estimatesa sufficient amount of time to enter the standby state, placesthe estimate into an alarm register, and then entersthe standby state. An update moduleexitsthe standby state in response to an alarm signal, receives the request if present, writesthe EEPROMwith the updated information, and resumesthe operating system
