Abstract
The invention relates to a vented extruder () for the devolatilization of a polymer material. The vented extruder () encompasses at least one drive (), at least one gearbox (), at least one rotatably driven extruder screw (), at least one first material feed () and at least one extrudate outlet (). A feature of the vented extruder () according to the invention is that the drive, encompassing drive () and gearbox (), has been provided in the region of that end of the extruder screw () that is downstream in relation to the direction of conveying of the polymer.
