Abstract
A storage apparatusimplements Thin Provisioning functions by allocating a storage area of a physical driveto a logical page in units of a physical page, the physical drivebeing managed as a storage pool, the logical page being a management unit of a storage area of a virtual volume; performs tier arrangement processing to replicate data stored in a migration source physical page to a migration destination physical page; and performs replacement processing for the physical driveupon receipt of a request to replace the physical drivein units of a physical device (PDEV). In performing the replacement processing for the physical drive, when a first processing mode is designated as tier arrangement processing mode, the storage apparatuscancels start of the tier arrangement processing, and then starts the replacement processing.
