Abstract

The present invention provides a method of reducing body weight in a subject in need thereof, by administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of Formula I: In Formula I, Ris H, Calkyl, or Calkyl-aryl. Each of Rand Rof Formula I are independently H, halogen, Calkyl, Chaloalkyl, Calkenyl, Calkynyl, Chaloalkoxy, —OR, —SR, —C(O)R, —C(O)OR, —C(O)NRR, —NRR, Calkyl-NRR, —N(R)C(O)R, —N(R)C(O)OR, —N(R)C(O)NRR, —OP(O)(OR), —S(O)OR, —S(O)NRR, —CN, —NO, cycloalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, aryl or heteroaryl. Each of Rand Rof Formula I are independently H, Calkyl, Cheteroalkyl or Calkyl-aryl. Rof Formula I is absent, Calkyl or N-oxide. The compounds include the salts, hydrates and isomers thereof. The present invention also provides methods for the treatment of obesity and disorders related to obesity and higher than recommended percentage body fat, such as type II diabetes.
