Abstract
Abrasion resistance is further enhanced in a sliding member used in an internal combustion engine. With respect to a valve lifterused in an internal combustion engine, hard particles having higher hardness than the valve lifterare dispersed onto the top faceof the valve lifter, and a nitriding treatment is conducted on the top facedispersed with the hard particles.
