Abstract
A method () and system () for of conserving resources in a video-on-demand environment are provided. The method () includes storing a stub file () on an edge storage device while storing content () at a central storage device (). When a video-on-demand request () is received, a resource management system () reads () the stub file () to determine a storage location at the central storage device (). The resource management system () then retrieves the content () from the storage location determined from the stub file () and either stores it at an edge storage device () or delivers it the a subscriber device () to fulfill the video-on-demand request ().
