Abstract

A technique for providing network access in accordance with at least one layered network access technology comprising layerprocesses and layerprocesses is described. In a device implementation, the technique comprises a shared memory adapted to store at least layerdata and layerdata as well as a memory access component coupled to the shared memory and comprising a first client port adapted to receive memory access requests from a layerprocessing client and a second client port adapted to receive memory access requests from a layerprocessing client. The memory access component is configured to serve a memory access request from the layerprocessing client with a lower priority than a memory access request from the layerprocessing client. In particular, the memory access component may be adapted to prioritize reading of layerdata by the layerprocessing client over writing of layerdata by the layerprocessing client.
