Abstract
A seal arrangement for a needle valve in a fuel injector () includes a nozzle housing () forming an outer cavity () and defining a needle valve seat (). A plurality of nozzle openings () are formed in the nozzle housing () and arranged symmetrically around its centerline at a first radial distance (R). An outer needle valve () is reciprocally mounted in the outer cavity () and has a seat portion () arranged to abut the needle valve seat () when the outer needle valve () is seated or closed. A first ledge () formed on the seat portion () of the outer needle valve () sealably contacts the needle valve seat () along a first line contact seal () and a second ledge () formed on the seat portion () of the outer needle valve () sealably contacts the needle valve seat () along a second line contact seal ().
