A method for managing expired or consumed applications (app, app. . . appx) that have been provided by a Service Provider (SP) and are stored in a memory element (SE) of a mobile communication device (MOB), e.g. a NFC mobile phone, comprises storing a representation (RP) of expired or consumed applications (app, app. . . appx) in or on a storage medium that is separate from the memory element (SE).
