Abstract

Hollow fine particles containing SiOas the main component and containing another metal. The amount of the other metal (calculated as oxide) is 0.2 to 8 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of SiO. A coating composition containing the hollow fine particles and a dispersion medium. An article having a coating film including the coating composition formed on a substrate. A process for producing hollow fine particles, which includes (a) precipitating a shell containing SiOas the main component and containing another metal on the surface of core fine particles, to obtain core/shell particles, and (b) dissolving or decomposing the core fine particles of the core/shell fine particles.
