Process for the preparation of 4-(imidazol-1-yl)benzenesulfonamide derivatives of formula I, wherein Rrepresents optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl, which comprises treating a compound of formula II, wherein Rhas the same meaning defined in the formula I and Burepresents tert-butyl, with an acid. The 4-(imidazol-1-yl)benzenesulfonamide derivatives of formula I are useful as anti-inflammatory agents.
