Abstract
Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal cell provided with a color filter, a pair of polarizing plates arranged on both outside surfaces of the liquid crystal cell, and an optical compensation layer disposed inside of each polarizing plate, wherein, when a chromaticity (u, v) represented in CIE1960 color system is measured in a black state of the liquid crystal display device, a color difference Δuv given by equation (1) described below is 0.02 or less in an range of 0<θ≦60:Δ(⊥)−(θ)}(⊥)−(θ)}]  (1)wherein (u(⊥), v(⊥)) is chromaticity as viewed from a vertical direction and (u(θ), v(θ)) is chromaticity as viewed from a direction inclined at an angle of θ degrees with a direction of a normal line of a display surface.
