Abstract

A system for monitoring a concentration of carbon dioxide (CO) in an unsaturated zone of a site in which COshould be stored under the ground is provided which includes: a plurality of apparatuses for detecting the concentration of COin the unsaturated zone, each including a cylindrical chamber buried in an unsaturated zone under the earth surface, gas introduction holes formed in the side surface of the chamber, and a COconcentration sensor formed through the top of the chamber so as to measure the concentration of COcontained in the gas in the chamber; a plurality of communication devices transmitting the COconcentration output from the COconcentration sensor; and a monitoring server storing a reference COconcentration every time zone and comparing the reference COconcentration with the measured COconcentrations transmitted from the communication devices to output a normal signal or an abnormal signal.
