A compound represented by the formula (1) is provided. In the formula (1), for example, Rand Rare alkyl having 1 to 10 carbons, alkoxy having 1 to 9 carbons or alkenyl having 2 to 10 carbons; the ring A and the ring B are 1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene; Zand Zare a single bond and Zis —CHO— or —OCH—; Yand Yare halogen, —CF, —CHF, —CHF, —OCF, —OCHFor —OCHF; and m and n is 0, 1 or 2, p is 1 or 2, and the sum of m, n and p is 1, 2 or 3.
